ScanMaker 5 excels!

Microtek ScanMaker 5 has won both the Best Product and the Best Buy Awards. In spite of being the most expensive scanner at the time, it is so good in comparison to the competition that it beats them on almost every point. The ScanMaker 5 noiselessly registers a plethora of information and has a high colour depth.

Description

Target group
The high resolution, multi-format ScanMaker 5 is designed for graphic designers, publishing and prepress professionals offering professional quality scans at a fraction of the cost of a drum scan.

Technical
This state-of-the-art scanner is a flatbed scanner with an integrated slide mechanism. To produce scans of high-end quality the Scanmaker 5 is equipped with some special features. Starting with an 8000 element CCD, this scanner is capable of both 36 bit input and output and has a dynamic range approaching 3.5 for capturing every detail in highlight and shadow areas.

EDIT
Another advanced feature is Microtek's patented Emulsion Direct Imaging Technology (EDIT). It's a professional system for slide scanning that enables the CCD lens to read directly from the emulsion side of the film without scanning through glass, thus, eliminating possible newton-rings and resulting in crisp, razorsharp scans. The ScanMaker 5 sets a new standard in flatbed-scanning quality.

Features

  • EDIT Technology and dual plate design enables the user to place transparent media into specially designed film holders that snap onto a plate that slides into the scanner. There are no mirrors in the optic path, allowing the light source to scan directly through the transparent media for scans of extremely high quality.
  • SnapTrans Templates - Five film holders designed to slide into the scanner to accomodate a variety of film sizes, positives or negatives, colour or black/white. Can even handle irregular shaped film without distortion.
  • Multiple Image (Batch) Scanning - the dual plate design and templates, along with ScanWizard, the scanner controller software, allows for scanning up to four 2,25" and two 4"x5" transparencies as well as twelve 35 mm slides and two filmstrips of six images each.
  • DCR Colour Calibration System - Industry standard IT8 Target ensures accurate colour output that matches the original.
  • Intelligent Scanner Controller System - Microtek's ScanWizard magnifies the preview image in high resolution, and stores and saves gamma curve settings for future application.
  • SilverFast - Professional scan software, that maximises high end scanners. Convert directly into RGB, CMYK or CIE-Lab colour space and optimises seperations.
